Project Description
I had the privilege of creating video tributes for the Atlanta HRC Annual Awards, an event that has been a cornerstone of LGBTQ+ advocacy since 1987. The videos celebrated the exceptional individuals and institutions driving progress and change within the LGBTQ+ community. These projects involved a range of responsibilities, including conducting interviews with award recipients, sourcing multimedia materials, video editing, motion design, and voiceovers. Each video sought to convey the remarkable contributions and inspiring stories of the honorees at this significant event.

Dr. Izzy Lowell & Queer Med
This video pays tribute to Dr. Izzy Lowell, a family medicine physician in Atlanta and the founder of Queer Med. Dr. Lowell's pioneering work focuses on improving access to hormone therapy for trans and non-binary patients. The video incorporates headshots, facility images, and clips from an exclusive Zoom interview with Dr. Lowell, highlighting her dedication to transgender medicine. It also showcases her extensive educational efforts and the creation of the Gender Clinic at Emory University, which eventually led to the establishment of Queer Med, a telemedicine practice serving over ten states in the Southeast. The video underscores the impact of her work in advancing transgender healthcare and the recognition received at the Human Rights Campaign Atlanta Dinner.

Spelman College
This video honors Spelman College, America's oldest private historically Black liberal arts college for women. It celebrates the college's groundbreaking decision to admit students who consistently self-identify as women, regardless of their gender assignment at birth, marking a pivotal moment in LGBTQ+ inclusion. President Mary Schmidt Campbell's leadership and the establishment of a Transgender Policy Task Force are highlighted, underscoring Spelman's commitment to creating a more welcoming and inclusive campus environment for LGBTQ+ students. The video showcases the positive impact of these changes, including hosting the Lavender Brunch during homecoming season, and how Spelman's decision influenced other institutions. HRC acknowledges Spelman College's dedication to providing access to education for Black transgender women and proudly presents this award in recognition of their outstanding commitment.
